MCP, hooks, skills and plugins

IXEL One connects to MCP servers over stdio and HTTP, with OAuth sign-in where a server needs it.

  • .mcp.json in a project holds its shared servers. Each needs your approval once.
  • mcp.json in your IXEL settings folder holds your own.

/mcp shows each server’s status and tools.

Hooks run your own commands at points in a session, in the same format as Claude Code’s. A project’s own hooks ask first, and ask again when they change.

Skills are folders of instructions the agent can use. IXEL One finds them in:

  • skills in your IXEL settings folder;
  • .ixel/skills in the project;
  • Codex’s skills and .agents/skills.

Some skills are built in. Type / to see them.

Plugins installed with Claude Code or Codex work in IXEL One too: their commands and skills as /<plugin>:<name>, their agents as subagents, and their MCP servers and hooks. /plugins lists them.

/marketplace browses the official marketplace and git repos you add, including Claude Code marketplaces. Install skills, commands, subagents, MCP servers and hooks, and update them later.

/marketplace install <id>
/marketplace uninstall <id>
/marketplace add <repo>
/marketplace update all

Items that ship their own programs install, but their programs don’t run yet.
